As is vital & good practice each year, the season’s order of HZPC potatoes for the Libyan market was inspected before loading in the harbour of Beverwijk, the Netherlands. The inspection was done not only by experts in the field of HZPC it self, but also by experienced representatives of the Libyan Food Inspection Service, the Agricultural Research Centre as well as the Department of Horticulture.

Together these professionals inspected up to 4 bags out of each truck arriving in the port. These bags were picked randomly, after which their weight was checked, as each bag has to contain at least 50 kilogram. The bags were then emptied on to the inspection line where the potatoes were checked thoroughly not only on quality, size and appearance, but also on the absence of diseases & pests. After inspection, the trucks proceeded to the quay where the pallets were loaded into the ship’s hold. Inside the ship the temperature is kept low and constant in order to provide the best possible climate for the potatoes during shipment.

After inspection the inspectors issued a certificate stating all seeds loaded into the vessel were free of quarantine diseases and otherwise met all required inspection standards as laid down in bilateral agreements between the Dutch and Libyan governments.
Upon arrival the seeds were sampled and checked again by the Libyan Food Inspection Service before they were discharged and released for further transport.

With the quality of this year’s seed potatoes thus guaranteed, we sincerely hope this will be a successful season for all farmers. We hope to back soon with growing tips to help farmers make the most of their HZPC seed potatoes.

SuperTrio TRS 90-4 Capacity 5-7 ton per hour

  • supertrio9 4A complete, compact & mobile grading & inspection unit
  • Product-friendly; one short product route

The SuperTrio 90-4 model is suitable for grading & inspecting potatoes and onions. The product feed to the grading section is adjustable to guarantee an even flow. The product is then graded into four sizes in the grading section. Undersize and oversize are discharged to the side, and the main grades of product go straight to the inspection conveyor belt for inspection.

The unique ‘jump-action’ grading technique ensures an extremely accurate and product-friendly grading process. With every ‘shock’ movement the product is tossed up at an angle and topples forward at an angle as well. This means that the product cannot escape the grading holes by manoeuvring between them, ensuring great accuracy.

Both jump grading depth & direction are easily adjustable by two hand wheels in order to choose the best jump movement for potatoes & onions. The inspection table has a frequency control to adjust the speed while inspecting.

  • sorting packing lineOption for box feeding the line;
  • Option for weighing & filling bags;
  • Complete, compact & mobile grading, inspection & packing unit;
  • Product-friendly; one short product route

This sorting & packing line has a capacity of up to 15 tons per hour, and can be fed with boxes. At the end of the line bags, or optionally farmer’s big bags, or standard big bags can be weighed and filled. It includes a bunker, roller inspection table, box sorting machine, conveyor belt, conveyor, and weigher.

Have a look at it's separate components:

1 - Hopper

The Schouten hopper ensures a constant feed to your grading line and limits dropping height. It can also be used as an intermediate buffer for your packaging or palletting line.

2 - Roller Inspection Table RB-S

Schouten Roller Inspection Tables facilitate quality control of your product. The product is rotated as it is transported forward. The Roller Inspection Tables RB-S (standing) is suitable for product inspection while standing. The rollers run straight back underneath the table. This model can be equipped with a belt guide, making it possible to control the peripheral velocity of the rollers independently of the forward movement. Three types of Roller Inspection Tables are available.

3 - Box Sorting Machine SMA-K

The unique 'jump-action' grading technique ensures an extremely accurate and product-friendly grading process. With every 'shock' movement the product is tossed up at an angle and topples forward at an angle as well. This means that the product cannot escape the grading holes by manoeuvring between them, ensuring great accuracy. Jump grading depth & direction are easily adjustable by two hand wheels in order to choose the best jump movement for potatoes & onions.

Schouten’s rubber sieves reduce product damage to a minimum & fill up less quickly than steel sieves. The rubber covering can rotate around the steel, minimizing the chance of potatoes getting stuck. The sieves can be changed quickly & easily. After grading, the potatoes are led to the discharge conveyor, with minimal drop height.

4 - Big Bag Filler BBV

The Schouten big bag filler BBV fills big bags manually or automatically. The potatoes descend into the big bag quickly & consistently so that the big bag does not sag or bulge, but remains upright & stable. This makes loading the bags into trucks a lot easier.

In addition, the BBV is multifunctional: owing to the intermediate switch on the control box it can also be used as a box filler.

The big bag can be pushed easily onto two rods that can be set to the correct height by means of a manual winch. The lower platform is adapted for weighing beams that disengage the feed conveyor when the big bag has reached the required weight. The fall breaker column, consisting of ten chutes, moves up and down automatically.
